GSF partnership with ROHI further aims at implementing a project on strengthening community-based Child Protection Responses for new arrivals in Monguno LGA, Borno state. The project was funded by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) for a 6-month duration. The project partnership was designed to address the objectives of Child Protection under NHF 2019 Reserve Allocation paper and responds to the need of 260 (150 girls, 110 boys) unaccompanied and separated children and other vulnerable children at risk of abuses through provisions of case management response by Identification and documentation, Placement in alternative care, follow-up of cases, tracing and reunification with their primary caregivers and referral and support to access basic services. It also extends to reaching 5200 children (2800 girls, 2400 boys) through psychosocial support in terms of structured recreational/creative/social activities for girls and boys, particularly for those under 13 years of age. Individual, group counseling and mental health were supported for girls and boys affected by psychosocial and mental distress as this will also ensure that qualitative Child Protection mechanism is in place to support new arrivals in NRC 1 & II, Gana Ali, Water Board and GCSS IDP Camps of Monguno LGA in Borno State, North-East Nigeria.
